Innovations at Diara's R&D Department

Innovation has always been a cornerstone of Diara’s R&D Department, focusing on creating and improving new products and processes. These efforts aim to pave new pathways for achieving corporate goals and enhancing competitiveness in diverse markets.

Key activities at Diara’s R&D Department include innovation in research, developing new products, improving processes, optimizing existing solutions, and advancing new technologies. These initiatives, supported directly by the management, have led to significant achievements, including the following:

Essence-Infused Granules

Granulation transforms the powder into larger particles called granules without altering the chemical composition. Powders typically consist of particles smaller than 100 micrometers, while granules have a size of 1,000 micrometers or more, making them visible to the naked eye.

In the granulation process, particles of one or more powders combine through bonding to form granules. These bonds are created by compression or binding agents, making the process valuable in industries such as chemicals, food, and pharmaceuticals.

Diara’s experts have successfully designed and produced essence-infused granules in various sizes, aromas, and flavors. This versatile product meets the diverse preferences of customers across multiple food and pharmaceutical industries, offering a wide range of applications.

Heat-Resistant Essences

In many food manufacturing processes, high temperatures are essential for production, necessitating flavors that remain stable under heat. Conventional essences often degrade in the presence of heat, oxidation, moisture, or chemical interactions, making heat-resistant essences critical for maintaining quality during thermal processing.

Heat-resistant flavors are especially useful in industries such as confectionery and candy-making, where high-temperature operations are common. Through extensive research, Diara’s R&D team has developed heat- and oxidation-resistant essences that retain their quality and integrity even under extreme conditions. These essences are now poised for use in both domestic and international markets, providing innovative solutions to industry challenges.

Special Hookah Tobacco Flavor

Hookah tobacco, widely used today, typically consists of tobacco blended with flavor compounds to enhance its appeal. In 2019, 249 tobacco products were registered in Europe, categorized into eight primary and 48 secondary flavor groups, with the majority being fruity and sweet (78%).

Considering the vast market for flavored tobacco in Iran, Diara develops high-quality hookah tobacco essences that meet rigorous standards set by the Food and Drug Organization. These essences feature a broad spectrum of aromas and flavors, tailored to diverse customer preferences. With a quality comparable to imported products, our formulations are competitive both locally and internationally.

E-Liquids for Electronic Cigarettes (Vapes)

E-liquids, also known as vape liquids or electronic cigarette liquids, are formulated for use in electronic cigarettes or vapes. These devices simulate smoking by vaporizing the liquid, offering the taste, aroma, and sensation of traditional smoking without the harmful effects of burning tobacco and paper.

Diara has successfully designed and produced non-nicotine e-liquids in a variety of flavors and aromas, catering to diverse preferences. These products are competitive with imported options in terms of quality and are being prepared for market release in 10 to 30-ml packaging sizes. Designed as an alternative to traditional smoking, these e-liquids aim to reduce the harmful effects of smoking while satisfying consumer needs.

Home Diffusers

This scent diffuser is an excellent method for adding a consistent fragrance to any environment. The needle reeds absorb the aromatic oil and gradually release its scent into the air. The longevity of these diffusers lasts until the fragrance oil is completely evaporated. They are widely and favorably used in spaces where a pleasant aroma is consistently desired. The device remains functional as long as the fragrance oil remains in the original glass container and the reeds are not clogged with dust or oversaturated with the aromatic oil.
Our research teams have focused on developing a base oil with optimal solubility for the desired essence and the right volatility and viscosity to ascend through the reeds. This product, available in a variety of fruity and floral fragrances, will soon be launched.

Essences for Hand Sanitizers

One of the most important principles of personal hygiene is keeping hands clean. Washing hands with soap and water is the most effective way to eliminate germs. However, when access to water is unavailable—something we all may encounter—using disinfectants, such as hand sanitizer solutions and gels, becomes the best alternative.

These products are increasingly preferred over soap and water due to their ease of use and accessibility. It is essential not to rub or wipe them off after applying; instead, allow them to air dry to preserve their disinfectant properties.

A wide range of essences with long-lasting fruity and floral fragrances has been specifically designed and formulated for use in hand sanitizers. This diverse variety of scents caters to the preferences of customers with different tastes.

Animal Feed Flavor Enhancers

Aroma, combined with taste, is among the most critical aspects of animal feed. Feed with an unpleasant odor may be unappealing to animals, leading to low consumption or even rejection. Optimizing the aroma and ensuring adequate nutrient intake for animals is essential, especially during challenging periods such as weaning, transportation, or heat stress.
Smell plays a vital role in encouraging animals to begin feeding, as well as during feed consumption. This is because animals detect scents retro-nasally while chewing. Adding flavor enhancers to animal feed helps optimize or standardize its aroma, ensuring animals consume it adequately.
For example, in silage-based diets, masking the effects of alcohols formed during fermentation is essential, especially when silage is made from high-moisture crops or crops wilted under suboptimal conditions. Similarly, using flavor enhancers in feed primarily composed of coarsely chopped straw—which animals usually avoid—is crucial. Adding feed flavors in such cases prevents starvation and encourages animals to gradually increase their consumption of previously avoided feed.
Flavoring agents may be natural, such as garlic, fennel, and caraway, or synthetic, such as fruit extracts and chemical compounds like vanillin and monosodium glutamate. Most of these agents are available as dry powders for feed formulation. In typical feed formulations, flavors are included at levels ranging from 0.5% to 1.5%, although these amounts may vary depending on the animal type, feed ingredients, storage duration, water quality, and disease prevalence.
Each animal has unique flavor preferences, making it essential to tailor flavors accordingly.
The specialists at Donyaye Atr o Diara have successfully designed various flavors for animal feed, including cinnamon, vanilla, berries, mint, lemon, thyme, rosemary, clove, pepper, and meat. The broad range of aromas and flavors in these products caters to the diverse needs of livestock farmers, enhancing feed quality and palatability. Additionally, the quality of these products is comparable to imported alternatives.
